Seismic and Structural Health Monitoring of Large Concrete Dams
Featuring Dr. André Alegre, Kinemetrics, Inc.
Large concrete dams are civil engineering structures of vital importance for the management of freshwater resources, including water supply and hydropower. They are generally associated with high potential risks, and it is critical to continuously evaluate their dynamic behavior in normal operating conditions, enabling the analysis of measured vibrations under ambient/operational excitations, for structural health monitoring, and to analyze the response during earthquakes. Studies on the dynamic behavior of large concrete dams should be conducted based on results from dynamic monitoring data and numerical results obtained using advanced finite element models.
In this session, special guest speaker Dr. André Alegre presents programs recently developed for improving the software component of Seismic and Structural Health Monitoring (SSHM) systems of large concrete dams and for dynamic behavior modelling.
In this informative webinar + Q&A, Dr. Alegre places particular focus upon the primary results from studies on the dynamic behavior of two large arch dams, which have been under continuous dynamic monitoring over the last 10 years.
