Kinemetrics will be supplying the MEMS-based seismometers to JPL/NASA for the Farside Seismic Suite (FSS) mission on the Moon with the primary objective of this space mission to gain a better understanding of how planets are formed.
For this mission, Kinemetrics will provide two MEMS-based seismometers, which have already been successfully field tested during the JPL/NASA’s InSight mission to Mars; however, this time at Schrödinger Crater on the Moon’s far side.
Kinemetrics MEMS-based Short Period (SP) sensor is the most sensitive and compact triaxial sensor available for space applications. We are excited to participate in this partnership and are eager to see how these groundbreaking technologies will contribute to enhancing our knowledge of moonquakes and meteor impacts.
