Kinemetrics is pleased to participate in the AGU Seismology Section: Industry Career Panel, an upcoming webinar organized by the American Geophysical Union (AGU) to explore career opportunities for seismologists beyond academia.
Representing Kinemetrics, Mauricio Ciudad-Real, President & CEO of Kinemetrics, and Dr. Luis Vazquez, Technical Application Associate, will contribute to the conversation on career pathways in the private sector and the diverse opportunities available to professionals with backgrounds in seismology and geophysics.
Scheduled for Thursday, October 22, 2026, the one-hour webinar will bring together representatives from organizations supporting the AGU Seismology Section. Panelists will discuss their professional journeys, the skills valued by industry employers, day-to-day responsibilities in instrumentation and geophysical services, and current hiring trends. The session will also include an open question-and-answer discussion with attendees.
For students, postdoctoral researchers, and early-career scientists, the transition from academic research to industry can open new opportunities to apply scientific expertise to practical challenges. At Kinemetrics, seismology, instrumentation, and engineering come together to support earthquake monitoring and the development of technologies that help advance our understanding of seismic activity and its impacts.
Through participation in this panel, Kinemetrics is proud to support professional development within the seismological community, encourage dialogue between academia and industry, and help emerging scientists explore career paths where their technical knowledge can make a meaningful impact.
