About Our Client

Yonsei University Earth Observatory ran a pilot project to install two very high dynamic range sensor packages, a combination of MBB-2 broadband seismometer and Hyposensor accelerometer in the same housing, to record small and large earthquakes from within and around South Korea.

Project Objective

To acquire and analyze small and large earthquakes data from local and regional distances.

Project Achievement

After the successful installation, including leveling and rotation of the two sensors, very high quality recordings were obtained, including an M1.1 local earthquake and an M6.1 earthquake in Japan.

Project Insights

QUALITY INSTRUMENTATION

The Omnisensor consists of the field proven MBB-2 broadband seismometer and Hyposensor accelerometer, perfectly aligned in one housing. The Q330S+ is based on Quanterra’s extensive experience in reliable dataloggers design.

DATA RETURN

Kinemetrics products, in particular accelerometers, seismometers and dataloggers, are also known for a very high reliability and longevity. In conclusion: high quality data and high data return.

ENGINEERING SERVICES

The specialists of DOit Co. Ltd., Kinemetrics’ representative in South Korea, performed all related services.

NEW TECHNOLOGIES

The custom-developed leveling and rotation tool for Omnisensor uses new technologies for a new borehole installation accessory.
