About The Client

Duke Energy Progress, LLC operates Shearon Harris Nuclear Plant (HNP). It is an American electric power holding company in the United States headquartered in Charlotte, NC. Duke Energy owns 58,200 megawatts of base-load and peak generation in the US, which it distributes to its 7.2 million customers.

Project Objective

With Duke Energy’s continued efforts of upgrading obsolete plant systems, in 2019, Kinemetrics, Inc. was awarded a contract to replace the original Kinemetrics’ SMA-3 Seismic Monitoring System in service at HNP since 1987!

Project Achievement

The CONDOR2 Seismic Monitoring Solution at HNP is a multi-phased project, which upgraded the original monitoring system in 2019, as well as provided for Seismic and EMI/RFI qualification. In 2020, Kinemetrics will enhance the system by adding a free-field station and replacing standalone outdated peak acceleration recorders.
