About Our client

The Infante D. Henrique is state-owned by Infraestructuras de Portugal, in 2007 the University of Porto conducted a project to monitor the Infante D. Henrique Bridge using Kinemetrics instrumentation.

Project Objective

Deploy robust instrumentation for ambient vibration testing that efficiently captures high-quality data, enabling accurate modal parameter estimation. Automatize the extraction of valuable insights from dynamic monitoring systems, thereby support the establishment of a comprehensive long-term monitoring system.

Project Achievement

Over 18 years ago, advanced instrumentation was installed on the Infante D. Henrique Bridge to monitor its dynamic response. Measurements were recorded at multiple locations using 12 Kinemetrics accelerometers, 2 digitizers with corresponding recording units, and a strategically placed internet router along the bridge. This comprehensive setup enabled the creation of a robust long-term dynamic monitoring system that continues to provide valuable insights into the bridge’s performance and structural health.

Project Insights

Reliability

The instrumentation system has demonstrated robust performance for over 18 years, underscoring its durability and reliability in monitoring the bridge’s dynamic response.

Comprehensive Data Collection

The deployment of 12 accelerometers, along with digitizers and recording units, allowed for detailed, multi-point measurements of the bridge’s structural behavior.

Integrated Monitoring Infrastructure

The strategic use of an internet router to connect various components created a cohesive, long-term dynamic monitoring system, facilitating continuous data flow and system integration.

Enhanced Structural Health Insights

The system’s capability to provide ongoing, valuable insights into the bridge’s performance supports effective structural health assessments and informs maintenance decisions.
