General Sales Manager Position at Kinemetrics, Inc.

Job Summary:

 

The General Sales Manager (GSM) is a key leadership role responsible for driving revenue growth and managing the sales operations of a design and manufacturing company specializing in earthquake, volcano and explosion monitoring instrumentation. The GSM will develop and implement strategic sales plans, oversee Regional Sales Managers, build and mentor a high-performing sales team, and ensure customer satisfaction in alignment with company objectives. Fluency in English, speaking and writing, it’s mandatory. Other languages are a plus. This Position is based in Pasadena, California,

and may involve occasional travel to customer sites, trade shows, and industry events. The role requires collaboration across various departments, including engineering, production, and customer service.

Essential Functions

Sales Strategy and Planning 
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive sales strategy to achieve company revenue targets and market expansion goals.
  • Analyze market trends, customer needs, and competitor activities to identify opportunities for growth.
  • Collaborate with senior management to align sales strategies with overall business objectives.

Team Leadership and Management

  • Train and lead a dynamic sales team, fostering a culture of accountability and performance.
  • Set clear sales goals and individual performance targets.
  • Conduct regular team meetings, performance reviews, and training sessions to ensure team effectiveness.
Business Development 
  • Identify and cultivate relationships with key customers, distributors, and partners in the seismic instrumentation industry.
  • Lead negotiations for major contracts and partnerships.
  • Expand the company’s presence in existing and new markets, with a focus on new industries requiring seismic monitoring solutions (e.g., construction, energy, environmental monitoring).


Sales Operations 
  • Make timely sales related decisions.
  • Monitor and analyze sales metrics to drive informed decision-making and continuous improvement, implement and oversee quarterly reporting.
  • Coordinate with production and engineering teams to ensure timely delivery and customer satisfaction.

Customer Focus

  • In coordination with the Regional Sales Managers, act as a key point of contact for high-value clients, ensuring exceptional service and support.
  • Develop and maintain a strong understanding of customer needs and product applications.
  • Gather feedback to improve products and services, collaborating with engineering and service teams as necessary.

Compliance and Reporting

  • Ensure all sales activities comply with company policy, industry regulations, and state and federal laws.
  • Prepare and present detailed sales reports, forecasts, and market analyses to senior management.

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Geophysics, or a related field (MBA preferred).
  • 7+ years of progressive sales experience, including at least 3 years in a leadership role within the manufacturing or seismic instrumentation industry.
  • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sale targets in a technical or engineering-focused environment.
  • Understanding of seismic instrumentation applications is a plus.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required.
  • Legal status and work permit in the USA are mandatory.
